The Bently Nevada 991 Thrust Transmitter is a rugged, loop-powered 4-20 mA device designed for OEMs to monitor axial shaft position in compressors, pumps, and fans. It integrates a proximity sensor, eliminating the need for a separate proximitor, and provides both a control signal and a diagnostic output for machinery health checks. Built for harsh environments, it operates from -35°C to +85°C, is rated for 100% condensing humidity, and offers hazardous area approvals for Division 2 and Zone 2 installations. Its simple DIN-rail or bulkhead mounting and non-interacting zero/span adjustments make it practical for integration into basic machinery control systems where full monitoring systems are not required.
Power Supply Requirement: +12 to +35 Vdc at the transmitter terminals.
Signal Output: 4 to 20 mA dc, 2-wire loop configuration.
Output Accuracy: Within ±1.5% over specified full-scale range (typical), measured from TEST input to voltage across a 250 Ω loop resistance.
Maximum Loop Resistance: 1,000 Ω (including cable) at 35 Vdc.
Current Limiting: 23 mA typical.
Not OK/Signal Defeat Response: Output falls to <3.6 mA within 100 µs of a fault condition; restores within 0.1s after fault clears.
Prox Out Output Impedance: 10 kΩ, calibrated for a 10 MΩ load.
Prox Out Linear Range: 0.25 to 1.65 mm (10 to 65 mils).
Prox Out Incremental Scale Factor: 7.87 mV/µm (200 mV/mil) ±6.5% typical, including interchangeability errors.
Prox Out Temperature Stability: Scale factor remains within ±10% from 0°C to +70°C.
Minimum Target Size: 9.5 mm (0.375 in) diameter.
Prox Out Cable Length Limit (to test equipment): Maximum 3 meters (10 feet).
Signal Output Cable Length Limit (to receiving device): Maximum 13 km (8 miles) for non-hazardous/Zone 2/Div 2 locations.
Transmitter Operating Temperature: -35°C to +85°C (-31°F to +185°F).
Transmitter Storage Temperature: -51°C to +100°C (-60°F to +212°F).
Probe Operating Temperature: -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +351°F).
Probe Storage Temperature: -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +351°F).
Tensile Strength (Probe): 222 N (50 lbf) max, case to lead.
